Design Certification Renewal
DESIGN CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
In this section, we will touch upon how the GS4GG crediting period rules apply to CDM projects that are in the process of transitioning to GS4GG (GS-VER) including projects that were initially part of GS-CER.
GS4GG and CDM have different crediting cycles. For design certification renewal, GS4GG operates on a 5-year cycle that can be renewed twice, while CDM follows a 7-year cycle that can also be renewed twice or remain fixed at 10 years.
When transitioning projects from CDM or GS-CER to GS4GG (GS-VER), it is essential to adhere to the rules and requirements outlined under the GHG Emissions Reduction & Sequestration Product Requirements.
(*) Types:
- CDM Projects transitioning to GS4GG (GS-VER)
- CDM Projects Transitioning to GS-VER and were part of GS-CER
* The requirements for renewing the crediting period depend on the project’s certification status during the certification cycle at the moment of submitting the preliminary review.

SCENARIOS
For CDM projects transitioning to GS4GG, there are four possible scenarios, each with its corresponding requirements for design certification renewal.
*Scenarios 1,2 & 4 contain subsenarios: a) and b) contained under the Design Certification Renewal – Gold Standard for the Global Goals document
