OBJECTIVES & KEY LEARNINGS


The main goal of this course is:​

  • To provide participants with a thorough understanding of the significance of additionality, guiding them through intricate frameworks, tools, and methodologies, and cultivating an awareness of the nuanced interplay between environmental goals and economic feasibility.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:​

  • Demonstrate understanding of the concept of additionality.
  • Understand various Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) tools to assess the viability and additionality of projects.
  • Differentiate between environmental and project additionality, and assess their roles in achieving positive environmental impacts.
  • Mitigate risks associated with potential leakage and negative impacts outside project boundaries.
  • Understand the role of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the “ratchet mechanism” in shaping global climate goals.
